A boy from a hidden world. When Celeste starts at a new school in a small, Kansas town, she hears whispering voices, has vivid nightmares, and swarms of blackbirds follow her every move. She is oddly drawn to aloof Rylan, the other new student who has his own secrets. The exact moment she turns seventeen, she wakes to a bedroom full of strange creatures, purple light emanating from her hands, and Rylan breaking in through her bedroom window.
He knows what she is . . .
Intriguing and deeply romantic, RUA is page-turning YA novel with a supernatural twist.

My Review:
Gorgeous Cover? I think so! Lets all stop a moment and bask in the awesome that is, the Rua Cover… Okay, moving on. Since the synopsis didn’t give us much insight to the book, I honestly didn’t know exactly what to expect from this one. While it wasn’t blow me away type of amazing – it was def rocked my world official. It rocked it enough that Miranda Kavi can now, officially, count me as a fan. (:
Being a Military brat, I can totally related to the move, after move, after another freaking move scenario that Celeste has to go through. It blows. Hard.freaking.Core. I also know how hard it is to have to start completely over and make new friends in each place. That’s why I think it is amazing that she found Tink – her best friend with a heart of gold and a caring streak that stretches longer that a football field. Downside? He is gay. Upside? They never have to worry about those pesky relationship feelings ruining their friendship!
Being the new girl in school is never easy. So you can imagine how surprised Celeste is when uber sexy Ryan approaches her and the first thing he says to her is:
Dude! Say what?! I took this as hint number 1 that Celeste isn’t our average, everyday, run of the mill type of girl. & then she turns 17. How wicked cool would it be to start randomly seeing things. Seriously. Like – random dark figures all over the place. How about black birds EVERY where?! (Yea, I saw the movie BIRDS – let me tell you, that did NOT end well!). oh! && there HAS to be a reason that she gets headaches every time Ryan happens to be near.
Kavi sculpted some exceptional characters in RUA. From the swoon-tastic Ryan, to the every charming Tink. I must say though, Tink stole the entire show for me! He quickly became my favorite character from this book! RUA (& Kavi) leave you with just enough mystery & questions to leaving you eagerly awaiting the next book to see what happens next! Well played!
