My Thoughts

Let me start by saying that as a kid, I LOVED Beauty and the Beast. I thought it was the most epic story of everlasting love. Simply because she fell in love with him BEFORE she knew what he really looked like. If you can love a person at their worst, you can love them through anything. I mean, would DOESN’T want a love like that? So naturally, when I came across this book – it was an easy decision – I had to have it. Like a ton of other people, I loved it. It portrayed everything it should have.

Then the movie comes along. While I like the movie, I can honestly say that I don’t know if it was cast right. (Then again, what movie actually has the PERFECT cast when it’s based off a book!?) I do think that Alex Pettyfer made a great Kyle. I am just not sure about Vanessa Hudgens playing Lindy. The biggest shocker for me in this movie? Mary-Kate Olsen as Kendra. I think she did an amazing job.

The feel of the book was still there for me with the movie (: I felt the exact same thing I felt when I read the book; so kudos on that part!

Never read the book, but it is on my TBR pile. I have seen the movie though, and I absolutely ADORE it! Beauty and the Beast was my second all time favorite Disney movie as a kid and this was just a wonderful transition from childhood to adulthood. I think Alex Pettyfer played the role of Kyle wonderfully, and you are right about Mary-Kate. Her role was the most surprising and well accepted for me. I think she totally nailed it! I am curious as to why you have reservations about Vanessa. What was it that you didn’t really care for? Who do you think would have played a better Lindy? I wasn’t always buying what she was selling, but I can’t put my finger on what it was that I disliked. lol

Oh, you know who else I loved? Neil Patrick Harris as Will! I am guessing he is in the book, right? Either way, I loved his sense of humor. He was a great character and I think he helped the movie along a lot.

Now I can’t read the book. Just tell me that it’s like the movie or better. lol

    • NPH is the complete ish. I love that man. && The thing with Vanessa, I think it’s simply because I couldn’t get past High School Musical when I looked at her. Sad right?! But I also think that she just… lacked… Off the top of my head, idk who could have done it better, but there were just some parts of the movie I wasn’t convinced with when it came to her character.

Yeah, I agree with you on the Vanessa thing. It’s High school musical and Zac Effron… you just can’t un see that. lol Poor girl kinda failed before she got out of the gate. >.<

NPH FTW!! I have loved him since Doogie Howser. lol
