Book Versus Movie – The Lucky One

Welcome to Book Versus Movie!
Did you bring your thinking caps?!
How this works is easy; just check out the post, then leave me your opinion.
Have you seen this movie?
Read the book?
Did one, but not the other?
Well leave me your opinions!

I know we all have strong feelings when it comes to this kind of thing, so I love hearing other peoples opinions! I know I sometimes like movies over the books and vice versa, so I like seeing what others who share my interest think!

This Weeks Book & Movie Is:

The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks

My Thoughts

I was torn on this one. While I LOVED the book something fierce, I just DON’T KNOW if Zac Efron was the right choice to play Logan. Not that he sucked, or ruined the part, it’s just.. – I just don’t know.
With that said though, I had no other qualms with this movie. Naturally, some things were different, left out, changed around, yadda yadda what have you, but collectively, I can’t deny this movie made me feel everything I felt when I read the book, which is saying something!
I will say this, I have seen every movie Nicholas Sparks has released, as well as read the book & I haven’t been disappointed in ANY of them!

Examples

A Walk to Remember

Jamie was played by Mandy Moore. I have a thing where MOST OF THE TIME, I think choosing a famous singer is a BAD choice. That is just my opinion. However, I think Mandy Moore did excellent in this. The movie, to me, was just as strong as the book. Pretty much all of his stuff is!

Dear John

While I LOVE me some Channing Tatum – this movie got to me in parts. I have heard mixed reviews on this one when it comes to the book and the movie.

I can’t speak to this with much authority. I’ve seen the movies, but not read the books. I’ve only actually read one Nicholas Sparks book, and it hasn’t made it to Hollywood yet. :D I actually have done either for Lucky One. I typically prefer to read a book before I see the movie, even if that makes me like the movie less, just because I feel like I go into the film with a better sense of character and story. I loved A Walk to Remember and the Notebook, but Dear John and Nights in Rodanthe less. I think sometimes our buddy Nick Sparks hits the nail right on the head; other times, he misses the mark. But that’s just my opinion. Great post! I’ll have to remember it for my blog sometime! :D

I totally agree with you. Dear John was a hit and miss for me. I was mad at more parts of that movie than there were parts to enjoy. The Notebook was just epic.

  • I havnt seen this movie or read the book but I love how you did the Book versus Movie. This would be very cool to do weekly.
